Definitions
“Conditions” are defined as these terms and conditions of entry for the Event.
“Event” is defined as the event named on the Entry Form.
“Entry Form” is defined as the website pages which must be completed via the Online Entry Portal in order to participate in the Event.
“Entry Fee” is defined as the price of entry into the Event as set out in the Entry Form.
“Race Organiser” is defined as any person involved in organising the race and is a member of Widnes Running Club.
“Runner” is defined as anyone who has officially entered the race by paying the entry fee.
“Race HQ” is defined as the location where runners can collect their race numbers and get further information and help from on the day of the race
Event Entry
Entry to the Chris Lam Widnes RC 5 miler event is confirmed once the entry form has been completed, full payment for the entry fee has been received and confirmation email is sent to the Runner’s email address.
A Runner agrees that they shall at all times ensure their details, in particular their name and contact details, are accurate on the Online Registration Form. The Participant should notify the Event Organiser of any change of address or contact details.
Transfers and refunds are permitted up until the time stated on the race website.

The Runner is solely responsible for arranging a transfer of a number.
Transfers must be made officially via the entry portal (i.e. Nifty Entries).
The Runner is solely responsible for arranging any payment. The Race Organiser cannot be held responsible for any losses incurred during the transfer of number process.
Deferrals are not permitted.
As per England Athletics guidelines, you must be aged 15 or over on the day of the race to enter
Event Postponement or Cancellation
The race organisers reserve the right to postpone or cancel the event at any time
The race organisers will give as much notice as possible to runners if a postponement or cancellation is required
The race organisers will communicate postponements or cancellations via email, the race’s social media pages and on the race’s website
Responsibility of the Runner
The Runner agrees to the Conditions, which include details of their cancellation rights.
The Runner acknowledges that participation in the Event may be physically strenuous. It is acknowledged that participation in the Event may be physically demanding and the Runner is aware of the nature of the Event and associated medical and physical risks involved.
The Runner agrees that they are physically capable of competing in the Event and agrees to be solely responsible for their actions and the Event Organisers are not responsible for any injury or illness that the Participant may suffer as a result of their participation in the Event, unless it is proven to have been caused as a direct result of negligence on the part of the Race Organisers.
The Runner accepts that should any medical or physical condition arise prior to the Event which is likely to affect their ability to participate, the Participant will withdraw.
Runners consent to medical assistance and/or medical care being given to them in the case of illness, injury or an emergency situation, should this occur during the Event, such assistance to be given by the Race Organiser, volunteers, contractors or other trained personnel conducting the Event (which may include the use of anaesthetics)
The Runner must ensure that they have the correct equipment, footwear and clothing for the Event with reference to their personal requirements and the weather conditions on Race Day.
The Runner is required to wear the Event issued race number and timing chip during the entire duration of the Event.
The Runner agrees to abide by all applicable rules and regulations of the relevant sporting governing bodies that oversee the running of the Event. The Runner shall not be entitled to a refund of the Entry Fee if they are disqualified from the Event as a result of an infringement of these Conditions or any such rules and regulations.
The Runner understands the importance, for safety reasons, of obeying the rules, guidelines and instructions given by the Event Organisers, stewards, nominated representatives and other authorised personnel and hereby agree to abide by the same and to behave responsibly at all times during the Event and be mindful of the impact of their actions on others. Failure to do so may, at the discretion of the Event Organiser, amount to misconduct and disqualification in accordance with UKA Rules 145 and 145 S1.
While the Event Organiser takes every care with the staging of the Event, the Runner acknowledges that personal accident and personal items insurance is their sole responsibility.
The Event Organiser is not responsible for any loss or damage of personal items which have been left within the Race HQ or on or near to the course.
In accordance with UKA rule T55 S5 UKA supplement, Runners must not wear headphones unless medically prescribed. Headphones that work by conducting sound through bones and do not sit in the ears are acceptable
In accordance with UKA rule T55 S6 UKA supplement, Runners must not be accompanied by a personally owned or controlled dog in the race.
In accordance with UKA rule T55 S7 UKA supplement, the pushing of persons in any device is not permitted in any race held under UKA Rules of Competition (including but not limited to, buggy, pushchair, stroller or similar). Equally, the carrying of a child by any participant is not permitted in any race held under UKA Rules of Competition.
Runners participate in the Event for recreational and/or charity fundraising purposes only and they will not participate in the Event for any commercial or business purpose. The Event Organiser will have no liability to the Runner for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or other loss of business opportunity.
Personal Data
Your Personal Data will only be processed by the Race Organiser in order to provide services in relation to the Event or where you have given them consent to stay in touch with you. Consequently, it may be necessary for the Race Organiser to share your Personal Data with third parties (such as in the administration and organisation of the Event and/or future Event(s)). For example, the Race Organiser has appointed Nifty Entries as the Race Entry Provider, which provides the Online Registration Form. HSS Sports provide event timing. Priority One Medical provide the medical services for the event.
The Participant consents to the Race Organiser and any of its contractors having the right and licence to photograph and/or film the Runner before/during/after the Event and to use such photographs and filming for any future advertising of the race
The Runner consents to the Race Organiser having the right to publish the Runner’s name, finish times and photos linked to their chip timing on the Website and on the Race Entry Providers website.
